Beautiful sunflower
Shining at me
Dull seems the sun
When I look at thee

Poem For the Distant Mountains.

As summer's day ends and green fields turn to gold,
Children laugh somewhere, and the air becomes cold,
I hear the sound of cars; as if a rushing river,
I realize that I'm alone, and now I start to quiver

All alone, and I miss you,
But the sun sinks low behind me,
And as I gaze at pink painted peaks
I know that you will find me.

i believe in tormented souls
the shadows visible
behind stained-glass eyes
shadows which flicker
shadows never recede
shadows which haunt
graffittied bus shelters and shadows which
lurk beyond lamplight, shadows cast
even in darkest night
shadows deep as
the ocean and shadows as
black and fluttering ravens
shadows which follow you home and shadows which
echo in sighs, those shadows
drift in your eyes as you sleep

"I know how that feels."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah, like everything around you is crushing you and you can't move or breathe or cry out."
"No, it's not like that."
"It's not?"
"No, it's like things work for everyone else, but not me."
"Powerless."
"Yeah."
